You’re Childs Safety in the Home

When you are planning to have a baby, there are a thousand and 1 things to consider and one of the most important things is SAFTY in the home. Every room has its own dangers.
            Electric sockets must have safety covers on them. Baby walker’s surprise, surprise, do not have one of these. Research shows that more accidents and injuries happen in baby walkers than with any other baby equipment. And Canada has already banned the sale of them. Safety Gates must be fitted top and bottom of your stairs. Babies have no sense of danger. In the kitchen and bathroom make sure all chemicals are well out of reach of those little hands. Curtain cords, very dangerous to babies and toddlers cut them short; 1.6 metre above the floor is recommended. Install smoke alarms near sleeping areas top of stairs, and check they are working proper. Try not having toys with small pieces that they can pull of or small objects lying around Balloons and plastic bags must be kept in safe place. All heaters, fireplaces, radiators, and portable space heaters must have a guard around them. A water filled radiator only has to be warm to burn your baby. Most double glaze windows have locks already fitted, but older wooden windows do not so have them fitted. If you have glass doors check to see that it is laminated glass. The kitchen is a dangerous place for baby’s and toddler, there are hot stoves and chemicals in cupboards so you must make sure your little one can’t get access in to cupboards or climb up on a stool to reach up on to worktops
 
In the bathroom make sure your medicine cupboard is locked, if your bath tub or shower has a slippery bottom put a bath mat in it. Always test the baby’s bath water; using your elbow gives you a good guide.  In their bedroom when you purchase their crib or cot check it meets national safety standards, make sure it is sturdy and has no missing bits, check the mattress fits nice, and the sheets fit snugly. Do not put heavy blankets or stuffed toys in the crib. Place your baby on their backs to sleep. Night light should be at least 3 feet away and have a baby monitor installed.

 Outside in your yard make sure all your garden tools are put away in the shed, don’t cut your grass when your toddlers running around and if you treat your lawn do not allow your kids to play on it for 48 hours after the application. Learn all the plants names you have in your garden, time may be very important if you have this information ready in case your child has had a feast on one of them.
